ProFleece Ultimate 1200gsm Vet Bed for Whelping Boxes

Manufactured in the UK, ProFleece has been around for decades and they make the densest and strongest vet bed in the world. ProFleece vet beds are used by vets and pet professionals worldwide. Hardly any bedding available in Australia are made in the UK, if they don't say where it's made, you can safely bet that it's made in China, so don't be fooled by cheap imitations.

Which one should I use? Carpet back or non-slip rubber back?

For using inside whelping boxes, we generally prefer the carpet-back bedding because (1) they handle frequent washing better and are more durable (2) the bed is being weighted down by the whelping box so it cannot slip anyway.

However, the downside of carpet-back is that the bed's stiffer, so if you have a small front loader (<7.5kg) and intend to machine wash, you may struggle to fit a MEDIUM or LARGE size in there. The rubber back is more flexible so it can bend and fit inside a small machine easily. However things do get "messy" inside a whelping box therefore the bed can be quite filthy, so not everyone feels comfortable sticking that into a machine where they wash their own clothes and linen.

Note: Wash at 40deg or below to avoid shrinkage. Some pieces include selvage so there may be loose fibres which may be removed by hand, vacuuming or washing.

How to Use

Liquids will seep through fibres, keeping pups dry on top, so we recommend lining your floors with lino/tarp for waterproofing, layering puppy pads on top to absorb liquids and for ease of clean up, and then pop your ProFleece bedding on top. 

Please Note

You may find that your ProFleece pet bedding sheds at first. This is normal! During manufacture, loose fibres can get caught in the pile and will come loose during use. Some shedding along the cut edges is to be expected too. The shedding will naturally reduce through use and cleaning. It will not affect the thickness of the pile or appearance of your fleece and the fibres are not harmful to animals.
